Privacy Policy
Effective 13 October 2026. Applies to the XLSX Editor app for Windows published by HAYAH.
The short version
XLSX Editor works with your spreadsheets on your own PC. It never uploads your files or anything in them, has no account and no advertising. From version 1.1.1 it sends anonymous usage events (which features were used and what happened, never your spreadsheets), which you can turn off in Settings.
Your files
The app reads only the files you open, drop onto it, or open with it from File Explorer, and writes only the files you save, export or print to. File contents never leave your device.
Recovery copies and settings
To protect unsaved work, the app keeps recovery copies of open workbooks in its own folder on your PC (%LOCALAPPDATA%\HAYAH\XlsxEditor\Recovery). A copy is removed when you save or close the workbook; copies you discard are deleted after 7 days. Your preferences and your list of recent files are stored locally too. From version 1.1, the free edition also keeps a local count of how many workbooks you saved today as .xlsx or .xls; it stores scrambled codes (hashes) of those file paths, not the paths or the files, and resets every day. If you used version 1.0 on the PC, a local note records that you keep Pro features at no cost. Uninstalling the app removes all of these.
Network use
The app connects to Microsoft Store services, to check whether Pro is unlocked (from version 1.1), to process a purchase you start and, if you choose to, to show the Store's rating dialog. From version 1.1.1 it also sends the anonymous usage events described below to hayah-xlsx.pages.dev, unless you turn them off. Up to version 1.1 the app makes no network requests of its own. The spreadsheet engine's own usage reporting is always switched off.
Usage events
From version 1.1.1 the app sends anonymous usage events: which features were used and what happened. For example: that a workbook was opened or saved, its file type, how many sheets it has and its size in broad ranges, that a file could not be opened and the general reason, that printing or PDF export was used, that the Pro page was shown and closed, or that a purchase was cancelled or completed. Each event carries the app version, whether you use the free version or Pro, the country as reported by our network provider (Cloudflare), a random identifier for that app session and a one-way hash of a random identifier created when the app was installed. That identifier is not linked to your Microsoft account or your purchases.
Events never contain your spreadsheets or anything that could identify them: no cell contents, formulas, file names, folder names, paths or sheet names. Our server refuses any event that could carry text. We use the events only to improve the app, keep them for up to 180 days, and do not sell or share them. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Privacy → "Share usage data"; the app then sends nothing and discards anything not yet sent.
Purchases
From version 1.1, XLSX Editor Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase. It is made through the Microsoft Store with your Microsoft account; HAYAH never sees your payment details or your account. The app remembers on your PC whether Pro is unlocked, so Pro keeps working offline. To help with support, the app writes the outcome of a purchase (for example "succeeded" and a Store error code) to a log file on your PC; it is never sent anywhere unless you choose to email it to us. Microsoft's handling of that data is described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Diagnostics
Apart from the usage events above, the app sends no diagnostics of its own. Windows may send crash reports to Microsoft according to your Windows diagnostic settings, and Microsoft may share aggregated reports with HAYAH through Partner Center. These contain no spreadsheet content.
Children
The app does not ask anyone, including children, for personal information. The usage events above are anonymous and are the same for every user.
